Settlement Portal

Settlement portals consist of two portals; a settlement portal to port to the capital and a capital portal to port to the settlement.

Settlement portals require a subscription and a settlement. The settlement name is needed for the portal map and for the portal name at the capital. A player can choose to place their portal at another player's settlement. A portal can be requested to be moved later.

NOTE: A second portal can be purchased for $20 directly from Xype, and has to be approved by him.

This is the order in which I do portals. You can choose to do capital first if you want, up to you.

1. Settlement

  1. Create a Server Portal and Place It: Specials, Create a “Server Portal”, drop it on the tile, center it, and rotate it to the player's preference. You should always rotate it after dropping it to ensure it is straight (unless you used Place).
  2. Manage Restrictions: Right click the portal, Item, Manage Restrictions and set checkboxes for No Destroy/Bash, No Decay, Not Moveable and Not Turnable.
  3. Get Portal Tile Coordinates Use /location command in chat or look at your compass (Improved Compass mod) to get the tile coordinates for the portal. Look on the website map to see what cardinal direction area of the map the settlement is in.
  4. Portal Settings: Get the coordinates for the capital tile and set it in in Item, Set data, set Data1 (X) and Data2 (Y). Set Auxdata to 1 to activate the portal and Creator to the player's name.

2. Capital

  1. Pick a Portal Location: Pick a capital portal location that matches the cardinal direction area on the map that the settlement is located in, if possible.
  2. Create or Copy a Portal and Place It: Right click and copy an existing nearby portal and drop the portal at the location you picked (or create a new portal).
  3. Manage Restrictions: Right click the portal, Item, Manage Restrictions and ensure checkboxes for No Destroy/Bash, No Decay, Not Moveable and Not Turnable.
  4. Rename Portal: Rename the portal to the name of the settlement.
  5. Portal Settings: Enter the location coordinates of the settlement portal (Settlement step 3 above) in Item, Set data, set Data1 (X) and Data2 (Y). Set Auxdata to 1 to activate the portal and Creator to the player's name.

3. Test and Rename

  1. Use Portal to Port to the Settlement: Use the portal at the capital to port to the settlement. You should arrive at the settlement's portal tile where the portal is located.
  2. Rename Settlement Portal: Now that you know the capital location, rename the settlement portal to reflect the location you picked at the capital. Each map has a different naming convention (see Naming Conventions below).

4. Update the Portal Map

Update the Portal Map: Go to Guide to Mythmoor and update the portal map. If you are a GM and you don't have edit access, ask one of us to add you.

  1. Enter the name of the settlement in the cell that corresponds to the location of the portal you placed at the capital.
  2. Set the cell background color to light green. (Note that red means the portal is in jeopardy of being removed due to expired sub/fallen settlement. ND means “No Deed”, i.e. the deed no longer exists but the portal is still intact. A portal may be left intact for a time if we think a player will be resubbing/redeeding.
  3. Right click the cell and Insert Note, then type in the player's name. Do not press enter, just click away after you enter the name.

Naming Conventions

See the portal maps at the Guide to Mythmoor so the below table makes sense.

Map Naming Convention
Prime “NW1 P1” where xxx is the building name and Px is the portal number in the building (left to right 1 thru 4 or 1 thru 7 for corner buildings).
Northlands “Northland Gates x” where x is the cardinal direction where the portal is located; N, S, E, W, NE, NW, SE, SW.
Plains “August Plains x” where x is the cardinal direction where the portal is located; N, S, E, W.

Interserver Portal

Interserver portals (portals that port to other servers/maps) can only be done with crystals as per existing examples in Moor's Rest.

  1. Specials, Create a “Crystal Server Portal”.
  2. Item, Set data, set Data1 to the map number (see table below), set Auxdata to 1 to activate the portal.
Map Number
Prime 1
Northlands 401
Plains 201

I assume that the now defunct Battle map was 301 at one time.
