 . You installed the files in the wrong folder.  It is very common for players to put the files in the Wurm Unlimited folder and not the WurmLauncher folder.

I had at least one player have an issue with Windows 11.  The patcher.bat would run but Windows would try to run it from the C:\Windows\system32 folder which would fail because patcher.bat is expecting to be run from the WurmLauncher folder.  The solution is to go to the WurmLauncher folder with File Explorer (or use Steam -> Library -> right click Wurm Unlimited, Manage -> Browse Local Files. then open the WurmLauncher folder.  Once in the WurmLauncher folder, right click whitespace in the window and select Terminal or Powershell (same thing) which will open a terminal window in the WurmLauncher folder.  Type in .\patcher.bat and it should patch the game if you installed the files correctly.
